Are you ready to make waves in the travel basketball world? Then Welcome to West Coast Wave, the fastest growing youth basketball program in the Burbank area!

WCW was built by real high school coaches to push back against the trends in grassroots hoops. This is not a pickup and play program. Wave players are given the tools to develop a high IQ game that translates to real basketball that can translate to the next level and beyond, not just 1 on 1 moves and getting a "bag" while fostering a true team environment--we always strive for our true goal of cultivating “Great Athletes, and even Greater People!”

  • Tighe Eshleman

    WCW PRESIDENT/FOUNDER- A native of Hershey, Pennsylvania, Coach Tighe has continued the great tradition coaching excellence in the Eshleman family. After several years working behind the scenes for Coach Esh in scouting and game prep, he made his first leap into a courtside role as the head JV girls basketball coach at Van Nuys High School. Tighe joined the coaching family once again in 2023 with Coach Esh at Burbank High School as a JV boys head coach, followed by a roll as boys varsity assistant. Coach Tighe is the founder of West Coast Wave, as well as the head coach of the Kraken 17u squad.

  • Raymond Watanga

    Vice President - A Kenyan/Texas native, former Student basketball assistant at Midwestern State University, and  graduate of The University of North Texas, he's vice President of WCW and Current Head Coach of WCW 15u Rogue, 14u Breakers, and 11u Riptide.   • Steve Eshleman

    With over 45 years of high school coaching experience, Coach Esh’s historic career has impacted the lives of thousands of athletes. He hails from Pennsylvania, where he was named a Hershey High School Hall Of Fame athlete. Esh’s coaching resume is highlighted by several historic seasons, including a PIAA state championship appearance with Annville-Cleona High School. In addition, a multitude of college and professional athletes got their start under Coach Esh’s coaching guidance. Currently, he is the Head Coach of the Burbank High School varsity boys basketball team. After taking over a BHS program with only 14 wins across all three levels, The Bulldogs matched a school regular season varsity win record, including over 60 wins across all three levels in just his 2nd season. In West Coast Wave, Esh is a consultant for The Wave coaching staff as well as the head coach of the Dive 17u squad.

  • Malique Johnson

    Malique Johnson - A SoCal native. Former Burbank High Ball player and former Interim Head Coach at John Burroughs High School who led the second best team ever at Burroughs to the playoffs for the first time in over a decade. Current Head Coach of West Coast Wave 15u Tidal, 14u Rollers, 13u Surge, 12u Splash. He is the Head Coach of the Burbank JV Boys Basketball Team.   • Charlie Green

    Charlie Green - AKA Coach Chuck brings a lifelong passion for basketball to the West Coast Wave 10U Sea Dogs, a love he's cultivated since he was just six years old. As a staple in the Burbank athletics community, Coach Chuck brings a strong background in organized high school sports and several successful seasons coaching in the Burbank rec league. A husband and father of two sons, he lives right here in Burbank and is dedicated to creating a positive and productive environment for the team.

  • George Pentaris

    A Chicago native with a wealth of knowledge and years of experience handling AAU programs; Current Head Coach of West Coast Wave 16u Rays, 9u/10u Tsunami and Assistant for the Burbank Boys Basketball Team.
